The 9th International Conference Developments in Language Theory will take place in Palermo from the 4th to the 8th of July 2005.
The conference is also under the auspices of the European Association for Theoretical Computer Science.
DLT'05 welcomes papers dealing with Formal Languages, Automata Theory and related areas.
No simultaneous submission to other conferences with publication outlets is allowed.

 
Topics of interest:

Typical, but not exclusive, topics include: grammars, acceptors and transducers for strings, trees, graphs, arrays; efficient text algorithms; algebraic theories for automata and languages; combinatorial and algebraic properties of words and languages; variable-length codes; symbolic dynamics; decision problems; relations to complexity theory and logic; picture description and analysis; polyominoes and bidimensional patterns; cryptography; concurrency; DNA and quantum computing.
 

Submissions:

Authors are invited to submit an extended abstract presenting original research concerning the topics of the conference. Simultaneous submission to any other conference with published proceedings or submitting previously published papers is not allowed.
The extended abstract should not exceed 12 single-spaced pages (including all tables, figures and references) on A4 paper. If appropriate, proofs should be attached in an appendix.
Please, submit your extended abstract as a postscript (.ps) or a pdf (.pdf) file by email (write in the subject-line "DLT 2005 submission" ) to the following address:

Name your file as NameKeyword.ps or NameKeyword.pdf where Name is the last name of the corresponding author, and the Keyword is a significant word from your extended abstract title. Once the submission is received, an e-mail acknowledgment will be sent to the author within 24 hours.


Important dates:

Submission: February 27, 2005
Notification: March 21, 2005
Final papers: April 11, 2005

The deadline for the submissions has been extended to February 27, 2005.

The notification has been postponed of a couple of weeks.


Proceedings:

The proceedings will be published by Springer-Verlag Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) Series, and will be made available during the conference.
The LaTeX source of final versions of accepted papers, prepared using llncs.cls, will be required.

Extended versions of selected papers from the proceedings will be considered for publication in a special issue of the International Journal of Foundations of Computer Science.
 

Conference site:

The conference will be held in Mondello, a pretty beach resort only a few kilometres up the coast from Palermo. It extends around the small bay enclosed by mounts Gallo and Pellegrino. The town began life as a village of fishermen most engaged in the local tuna fishery. Mondello shore is most attractive, characterized by crystal-like waters and uncontaminated sea-floors with richest underwater vegetation and caves.
